Quantum: A family business
Quantum was opened in October 2000 by Lesley (mother) Hazel, Adele & David (siblings) from their family kitchen and soon moved to Walmgate some months later. The reason for opening? Upon finishing Uni, David was amazed to find how hard it was to view properties in the city! There were no floor plans, the photos were awful and the service levels… well let’s just say there was a gap in the market!
So the Beattie family (pre marriages) opened Quantum with the mission statement that read “We’re here to last, so let’s build a reputation to last!” With that in mind, we ensured a partner was in and available every day, our property details always showed floor plans (we’ve never sold a house without!) and we never take on more than we can comfortably handle. This one is important, because we never cut staff during the bad times, and never got greedy during the very good times – so we always have a fantastic staff to property ratio.
When you hand your keys over to an agent, you have to feel confident they are acting in your best interests. With Quantum, you can trust us to give you the facts when it comes to the marketing. We get data from the major websites; showing the number of hits, % click through rate and other info. We will relate this to you in an understandable way order for you to make INFORMED decisions about your price and offers that come in.
Over the years, we’ve seen offers 10% under the asking price come in that are the best they’re going to get, and full asking price offers that have proved to be far less than its true worth! The only way you as the owner can decide if an offer is good enough, is by having all facts – how many viewings have there been? What’s the feedback? How has the property been received on all the websites? What are the comparable properties on for and how do they compare? What historically has sold nearby and again, what condition? That’s a lot of info! We will talk you through these both at the valuation and when offers come in, so that you can feel confident that when you accept or reject offers; it’s because it is the right decision (not what’s right for the agent!)
Truly Personal Service
There isn’t an agent out there that doesn’t claim to offer a “personal service”. How many deliver? Think about how many properties they are looking after, then ask “who cares about mine then?” With the best will in the world, trying to sell 150 – 220 properties at any one time means that the “personal service” offered is going to suffer.
At Quantum, we don’t let that happen – in the good old days (e.g 2006 & 2007) we used to actually restrict the number of houses we took on (so we never lost our service levels) and now during the tougher times; we’re proud to say we’re one of the only agents to keep ALL their staff (no redundancies) and offices so that the service levels remain.
Ever heard this from your valuer; “I will look after Mr/ Mr Smith” or “your house will be my top priority” or “You know, I have a buyer in mind… yeah, actually, let me phone him and I’ll get you a viewing this week!” Now, don’t get me wrong, this could be the case, but words are so easy from valuers! Promising you everything and anything to get your business! Truth is, after they leave your house, they’re off to other properties promising the very same thing!
Here at Quantum, only a Partner will value your property, and only a partner will oversee the sale transaction. Given that we ideally operate with only around 50 – 60 properties, you can see why when we say personal, we mean personal! What you get then, is a team who know what you like about your house and area, and know how to pass that on to the viewers so that they can like your house as much as you do!
