Landlord Location Guide: Clifton

When you’re a landlord, it can be tough to find the perfect rental property. That’s why we at Quantum are putting together a new series of location guides.

Drawing on our experience as letting agents in the York area, each guide focuses on a different region and what it has to offer your tenants.

In this guide we’ll be focussing on the local amenities in Clifton, a York suburb about 10 minutes from the city centre.

Clifton Background

People have been active in the Clifton area for hundreds of years; there is evidence of streets dating back to the second century CE. For many years Clifton was a simple rural village, whose main trade was dairy farming. In the 1800s a large chunk of the village was sold by the Earl de Grey, which was followed by a spate of house building in the area.

Today’s Clifton is a mile from York city centre, and has plenty to offer any future residents.

The mix of terraced houses, semi and detached, as well as tranquil cottages makes Clifton a popular suburb of York.

With the River Ouse on its western edge, the highly popular Clifton Green park and a range of essential amenities including one of York’s most popular shopping destinations, Clifton Moor Shopping Park, it’s excellent for anyone looking for a charming York suburb that offers a comfortable commute.
